Wiring the SCSI PC Card Reader/Writer

Wiring Instructions

This document supplements the Installation Guide included in the packaging. Occasionally during shipping the wiring between the enclosure unit and the PC Card reader becomes disconnected. These instructions are intended to help the end user reconnect the wires to the pin-outs on the PC Card reader.

Following the steps in the Installation Guide, remove the drive bracket from the case body. Within the drive bracket is the actual PC Card reader with a metal casing looking similar to the illustration on the right.

With the PC Card reader facing as in fig: 1, locate the pin-outs in the recessed area. There are two rows of three pins.

Find the terminal ends to the twisted black, blue, red and yellow wiring harness coming from the case body. The wire harness splits at the connectors into a group with the yellow, blue, red at one terminal, and the black at the other.

With the PC Card reader still facing as in fig: 1, slide the connector with the yellow, blue, red over the upper set of pins with the red wire facing right. Slide the connector with the black wire on the lower set of pins with the black wire facing right.

See fig: 2 for clarification. With the drive orientation as in the illustration, viewing the pin-outs from above the red wire should appear over the top right pin and the black wire over the lower right pin when the connectors are properly attached.
